There are hardly any movies around that aren’t hyped. Right from the filming of a flick to the actors starring in it to how the PR is doing, every single happening keep building hype around any film right before the release. Even before it hits the silver screen, there are speculators and trade pundits giving their say over how a movie is going to work out.
Bombay Velvet was released with a really grand opening. But it didn’t do good enough at the box office in its opening week. Is it really the plot of the film or star-casting or Virat Kohli to be blamed for such a bad fate of the film?
Way back in March, when Kohli couldn’t perform well and was out just for 1 run off 13 balls when playing against Australia in the ICC World Cup semi-final in Sydney, it was Anushka the player’s girlfriend who was blamed the most. Her visit to see the match caught more media attention than the game! Perhaps, it is the time to blame Kohli for actor’s failure!
After all, the player has been keeping in touch with the actor all through the time! Even during the recent IPL matches, he violated the rules and regulations just to be by the side of her beloved! Never did he leave a chance of meeting her and right in the stands at the M. Chinnaswam Stadium, he made good use of the rain-break by spending time with Anushka!
Bombay Velvet made with a budget crossing Rs 130 crore managed to collect no more than Rs. 16.10 crore in its first weekend. Though the film received enough publicity because of the plot recreating Bombay of 1950s and 1960s and also for the starring of never-seen-before Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma Jodi, it didn’t receive the same support from the audiences after hitting the cinemas.
